A Look Back at Autumn in Small Town Iowa

I don't know about you but I am ready for some warmer weather. We have had ice and snow and sub zero temperatures here and it seems like a long time since the last nice day of fall when I went out and took pictures. I hope you enjoy a small glimpse of my little town.

This is the Crimson King Maple in my front yard. My Dad planted it when I was in Jr. High and I have pictures of it when it was just a little twig.

This is the Methodist Church which I attend. I grew up in this church although the building has changed. The old one had to be torn down and this is what was build in its place.

This is the Courthouse - again the old one was torn down and this is the newer version.

Our movie theater - it is the same building and hasn't changed much over the years.
Our small lake, a view through the trees.
Another view from the opposite bank.
This is another view of the Crimson King and my house from across the street.

I was pleased with my pictures - some of them almost do justice to God's wonderful creation. I hope you enjoy!

Sewing

I can't believe it has been so long since I have posted!!! So much for my once a week! I have been making costumes for our Children's Christmas Program at church. 4 shepherd costumes and 6 angel costumes - They are simple but when you're talking those numbers it does take some time. I hope I will have photos to post after Sunday. I thought it would be cute to have the kids in costumes this year so it is my own fault that I ended up making them.

I can't believe what a busy time it has been! It seems like since the Girl's Halloween weekend I have been on the go constantly!

I started making my Christmas cards in January but didn't get them quite finished and just realized today that I am running out of time - so that's my next project.

I hope in this busy, busy time you can all take some time to remember the reason for the season and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior!!

2nd Annual Girl's Weekend Halloween Party

I can't believe it's been a week already! We had so much fun. The girls really get into dressing up...and so do I. Steph got back around 2:00 on Saturday and we finished up the decorating and getting the goody bags ready. She got ready then and it was a good thing because Missy and Tammy arrived about 4:45. I wasn't even in costume yet.

They went and got ice and I got my costume on. Then it was picture taking time. We started outside and had several pictures taken when Martina arrived. So, we took some more pictures!

Then we went inside and it was time to take more pictures and eat!!! We have some things that are tradition but we always have lots of good things!

Time to clear the table and start scrapping!!! I think we must have started around 7:00/7:30 p.m. and we didn't go to bed till 2:00 a.m. Now that's a lot of scrapping!!

This is such a great bunch of girls and so creative. We had such a good time and are already planning for the 3rd Annual ----. There may be some new surprises girls!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I started a post for October 11 which was my Mother's birthday but I haven't had time to finish it because I have been sewing...and...getting ready for the Eddyville Class of 1986 2nd Annual Girls' Weekend Halloween Party!!! Whew, what a mouthful. I can't wait - it will be so much fun! Steph and I may have a couple of challenges in the works. Get ready, see you all on Saturday!!

I promise to try and do better after this weekend and stick with my goal of posting at least once a week.
